So what have I been doing?

The first program I wanted to get a feel for was OneNote.  Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 is a powerful note-taking program that has changed how I look at what needs to be done.

The Tablet was supposed to make my life easier and for the most part, it has.  With One Note I have been able to take notes "naturally" then convert them to text.  For the most part, the conversions have been excellent but there is always some correction.  I do hope that gets better...I guess it will if my handwriting improves...lol

So why did I want to use One Note?  Take a look at this list from Microsoft:

Top 10 Reasons to Use OneNote 2003 on a Tablet PC

You can use Microsoft Office OneNote 2003 to get more done in client meetings, classes, the library, or in brainstorming sessions—just about anywhere you work with notes and ideas. OneNote 2003 features the intuitive, familiar user interface and rich authoring tools that are found in other Microsoft Office System programs so that you can get up and running fast, with minimal training time. With the new features and enhancements of OneNote 2003 Service Pack 1, you can take notes and share information more effectively. Here are the top 10 ways OneNote 2003 can help you be more productive on a Tablet PC.

1
Capture all your information in one place

Now you can better manage, prioritize, and act on the deluge of information you gather from e-mail messages, meetings, classes, the Web, and other sources. With OneNote 2003, you can handwrite notes or type text, draw diagrams and pictures, copy graphics from the Web, even record audio—all from one convenient place on your Tablet PC.

2
Take advantage of enhancements and new features in OneNote 2003 SP1

OneNote 2003 SP1 offers performance enhancements and new features for OneNote 2003. With improved ink performance, customizable pens, support for the scratch-out gesture, and a better eraser, using ink is easier than ever. In addition to synchronizing audio and video tracks with your notes, OneNote 2003 SP1 offers support for video notes and the screen clipping tool. New sharing and mobility enhancements let you copy notes from a Microsoft Pocket PC or Microsoft SmartPhone, and share OneNote 2003 sessions in real time.

3
Organize notes the way you prefer

Mix handwritten notes, typed text, and graphics on the same page easily. Move, arrange, separate, or combine notes and other content anywhere on the page. OneNote works like a paper notebook, except you can create as many folders, sections, and pages as you want, and then customize and organize them according to your needs.

4
Work more naturally and comfortably

With OneNote 2003, you can compose, organize, and use your notes in the way that's most comfortable for you. Easily handwrite notes or draw a diagram at the library, during a lecture, or while on the go—then search or convert those notes to text later.

5
Find the information you need quickly

Avoid the frustration of searching through your paper notebook, sticky notes, or computer files for a crucial piece of information. You can quickly search across all of your handwritten notes or typed text in OneNote 2003 to find the key information you need—whether it's a class assignment, a phone number, or important reminders.

6
Prioritize important items more efficiently

Highlight key ideas, reminders, or follow-up tasks in OneNote 2003 by using Note Flags. You can add Note Flags to your handwritten notes, view all of your Note Flags at once, customize them to call out key categories (such as questions for your instructor, or things you need to research), or add them to your task list in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.

7
Complete your research quickly and easily

Gathering research information has never been easier. Collect text, pictures, charts, or other content—whether from the Web or other documents—by simply selecting, dragging, and dropping them into your document. OneNote 2003 includes the original Web site address or file location as a convenient reference.

8
Reuse your notes more easily

Use your notes as the basis for your other work—such as presentations, memos, papers, or speeches. After using OneNote 2003 to gather information, you can organize the information in an outline or easily reuse it in Microsoft Office System programs. After compiling notes for a research paper, you can copy them into Microsoft Office Word 2003 or create a presentation by using Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003. When you use OneNote 2003 on a Tablet PC, it automatically converts your handwritten notes to text when you copy them into other Office programs. You can share all of your ink notes with others—even if they are not using a Tablet PC. You can also add ink capabilities to Office XP programs by downloading the free Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC.¹

9
Collaborate more effectively

Share and act on information more effectively for group projects. You can send handwritten notes in an e-mail message after a meeting, use a digital projector to create a real-time whiteboard for brainstorming sessions, or create a group notebook on a file share or Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site.

10
Deploy and manage Tablet PCs with ease

Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 includes the advanced deployment technologies of Windows XP Professional, making it easy to deploy and manage Tablet PCs in any environment.
